What a talking head shoot looks like

A controlled
conversation,
on camera.

Most talking heads at this tier are about making one person (an exec, a spokesperson, a contributor) read calm, presentable and on-message in front of a lens. The kit and the crew should disappear; the subject should not. The producer's job is to keep the day moving so the subject can focus on the answer.

  • Pre-pro that does its job

Question list, run-of-day, location reccie if needed. The interviewee shouldn't be the only person solving problems on the day.

  • Controlled lighting

Single-source key for a soft look, hard-fall key for something more editorial, daylight where it serves the brief. Set up to read on the room and on the subject.

  • Single camera to multicam

Solo for a fast-cut interview, two-camera with autocue for a polished talking head, multi-camera for a panel or a Q&A. Scaled to the day.

  • One-to-two-week turnaround

Shoot Monday, first cut by end of week, final delivery the next. Two rounds of notes baked in.
