Who you'll be working with

Hello, I'm Oliver.

I run Small Batch, a small production company in London. Agencies and comms teams bring me the idea and the deadline. I work out what it'll take and pull the right crew and kit together, so the shoot itself is the calm part.

I shoot most jobs myself, with a small regular crew around me for the bigger days. You deal with me from the first call to delivery.

I came up through camera departments on film and high-end TV, which is a good place to learn how a calm set runs.

What I make

One camera, or a full crew.

The work runs from a single camera at a morning event to a two-camera interview in a Formula 1 factory, a four-camera podcast for Unilever, or four vertical films in a working bank branch in a day. Small jobs are welcome, and they're often the easiest place to start with someone new.

If you need stills from the same day, I can shoot those too, or bring a photographer.

01 / 05

Events and activations

Launches, activations and panels, often with one camera on a gimbal: quick to set up and quiet in the room.

02 / 05

Talking heads and interviews

Lit properly and run calmly, so the person on camera only has to think about the answer.

03 / 05

Filmed podcasts

Multicam, with the sound treated as the main event.

04 / 05

Case study and campaign films

Documentary or controlled, credited to Small Batch or white-label.

05 / 05

Social and internal comms

Vertical cuts, cutdowns and leadership messages, from the same shoot day where it makes sense.

Repeat work

What it's like working together.

I've worked with Weber Shandwick for six years, and more recently with That Lot. Here's what a few of the people I've worked with say.

I've worked with him a ton over the last 2-3 years, and he has never let me down.

Every time I see Ollie and his team, they're hustling. You don't see that kind of commitment to doing a good job very often.
Jess · Weber Shandwick
You can tell he's had years of experience in Film and TV. Everything is dialled in.

A job in detail

MK-7,
inside the
Red Bull Racing Factory.

A spokesperson from Red Bull Racing and one from ExxonMobil, two cameras and autocue, with historic F1 cars behind them. Easy to over-light it and lose the cars, easy to under-light it and lose the speakers. Shot for Weber Shandwick in a day.

How it works

Quoted to scope,
not off a
rate card.

Every job is quoted to the actual brief, so a single camera for a morning and a two-day shoot don't share a number. Tell me the shape of the job and I'll come back with one quote that covers it.

The edit

There if you want it. Plenty of agencies cut in-house, so well-organised rushes on a drive are just as normal a finish.

Turnaround

I've worked to plenty of tight deadlines, and I'll find a way to make yours work. You'll have a delivery date before we shoot.

Credit

Credited as Small Batch, or white-label under your agency's name. Your call.

Invoicing

Crew, kit and edit on one invoice.

Send a brief

Got a brief?
Four lines is enough.

Tell me the type of job, the deadline, the shape of the brief and what good looks like. I'll usually reply within a working day, and if I'm not the right fit, I'll say so.

One camera for half a day is a perfectly good first job.
